As newly-elected U.S. President Barack Obama
says, "Change is coming." The world today is
caught in the turbulence of change, new order
and new paradigm. At the center of the change,
'change, change spirit' is the respect for human
values, i.e. the spirit of "all affairs of the clients, by
the clients and for the clients.?
In this context, the Excellent Quality-Competitive
Enterprise System is significant as the system is tailored to the interests and
satisfaction of relevant and specific clients. The system, which has been
implemented by the Korean Agency for Technology & Standards (KATS)
for over 12 years, has served as leverage to enhance the competitiveness of
numerous enterprises.
Quality management is necessary not only for enterprises but also for
consumers at home and abroad. It is an effective tool to translate
corporate citizenship into reality. Mirroring this expanded concept of
quality management, KATS has included in its evaluation index
environmental protection and social responsibility aspects.
I solicit all Korean and foreign consumers' cooperation and good advice
for the successful implementation of the quality system in Korea. The
benefits of the system should apply to all peoples around the world.
